Abstract
The essay suggests a reflection on the ethics of gift as the foundation of family generative experience and vocation to openness as condition characterizing the responsibility in adulthood.
Giving life, as well as to cultivate the humanity by different forms of self-giving (for example by voluntary service), achieves the ontological relational nature of the human being, and opposes the individualistic life models. The hospitality, openness and self-giving are objectives for family pedagogy to assume in order to refound social ties and to humanize society.
