Abstract

The strong bond of esteem and friendship of Giovanni Battista Montini, then Pope Paul VI, with Don Luigi Orione and the congregation of the Little Work of Divine Providence, first to the Vatican Secretariat of State, then as head of the diocese of Milan and finally as Pope, especially in relation to the Little Cottolengo in Milan, are investigated on the basis of a considerable correspondence and different archival sources, some of which are published in the appendix
