Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Sociology is catching up in a debate that is
it has long been dominated by political and economic sciences, often very ideologized, around the role of the family and the alternative between familism and statism in childcare. After almost two centuries of indifference towards childhood, the protagonism of children in social life, through the culture of peers, has become the object of sociological study and has re-oriented the methods of research in the field with a critical attention towards an epistemology already of childhood that too often is practiced by adults without the necessary awareness of the generational order.
