[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay reflects on the resources that social theater can make available to the school to promote intercultural processes in which diversity becomes an experience of exchange and growth rather than a wall that fragments relationships and prevents the establishment of new ties. In particular, the different functions of theatricality are analyzed - acting, authorial and spectatorial - recognizing that in each one there are procedures that support the empathic encounter with diversity, both the one we recognize in ourselves and the one we live in the relationship with others . The social theater laboratory is an effective device in which the participants can explore, through the direct practice of the theater conducted in a collaborative and participatory manner, the encounter with the real or imaginary other, as is the laboratory companion or the character. The meeting is real, but also declined in a situation of 'as if' where to play in a protected and safe way the different possibilities of the relationship. The ways in which a laboratory is developed are then analyzed and how the different steps progressively accompany the establishment of relationships, group building, processes of creative co-construction, exchange and invention together with others. The meeting becomes the possibility of discovering oneself and the other, of oneself through the other and of the other through the action / scenic collaboration.
