Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Over the past few years, the striking electoral results of populist candidates or parties, or anti-system formations, throughout the West, have led some scholars to question - alarmingly - the possibility of a collapse of democratic regimes. Although, very often, catastrophic or disproportionate, these concerns signal a 'malaise' in our political systems that must be taken seriously and which often finds fertile ground in the United States on which to take root. And, then, in the America of today - on the threshold of the presidential elections in November 2020 - which must be scrutinized in order to seek an answer to the anxieties of the present and the looming tomorrow.
