Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The images and diagrams of the Liber Figurarum collection are the most impressive testimony to the speculation of Gioacchino da Fiore. The vision of the history of the Calabrian abbot, the expectation of the imminent end and the dramatic events that precede it find in these figures the most adequate expression: the symbolic heritage of the central Middle Ages is grafted onto geometric patterns that give an account of the speculation of this "Computer exegete". Gioacchino shows himself at the center of the theological and cultural - but also political - debate of his years, although he shows an originality that does not allow himself to be reduced to the common terms of this: his diagrams constitute a particularly significant moment of a wider current, which we could define "figurative theology". Some of them seem to have been made to account for the doctrines of the abbot at his visits, including monasteries, papal curia and sovereigns. The elaboration, the meaning and the function of the tables that make up the "Liber Figurarum" is highlighted here, to arrive at a more general hypothesis on the nature of this collection.
