Abstract

This paper aims to outline the two main models of criminal protection of religion in Europe, through an analysis of their main characteristics and their evolution over time. Some national examples help you understand the aporias and difficulties of interpretation of these models, especially with reference to the actual effectiveness of the intervention of the criminal law to restrict offensive expressions of thought, in European contemporary societies, characterized increasingly by religious conflict, and Islamic terror alert.
