Abstract
In the essay the author deals with the complex relationship between Economics and Labour Law. In the first part, the relationship between Labour Law and Economics are analysed from a general perspective and over time. Then, the author focuses his attention on the difficult debate which took place between the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st Century amongst Labour Law scholars, when they started to deal more frequently with economic studies and with Labour Law reforms by and large inspired by those economic theories. The conclusion of the author is that the contribution of Economics to Labour Law may be accepted only if the axiological and dogmatic foundations of the discipline are respected.
