Abstract
Proofs of God’s existence constitute the heart of metaphysics in the classical philosophical tradition and, mainly, in Christian philosophy. This also applies to Sofia Vanni Rovighi, a prominent exponent of neo-Thomism. Because Vanni Rovighi favors a posteriori arguments, the paper aims to examine the premises underlying the demonstration of God’s existence according to the structure on which the five ways of Thomas Aquinas are based. The critical analysis of this inference highlights some inconsistencies in the reasoning that do not allow the conclusion to be considered unobjectionable, while not invalidating the argument as a rational hypothesis.
