Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Introduction. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is been highlighted, both globally and nationally, a increase in voluntary resignations (1). The impact in Italy This phenomenon is not yet well documented, it is known However, it mainly concerns young people between 25 and 45 years of age, and employees with seniority in the company for 1 at 5 years (2). Among the reasons mainly given for resignations are: changes in the job market, the search for better economic conditions, research a greater balance between private and work life, the hostile work environment (2). Goals. The objective of this study is to investigate social, demographic and cultural characteristics of young people who voluntarily resigned during the COVID-19 pandemic. The secondary objectives they are also to establish the motivations, the contributing causes, and the time period in which this phenomenon reached its larger dimensions. Methods. The study conducted is observational transversal. A questionnaire was administered to a convenience sample reflecting the population target (young people between 25 and 45 who have resigned volunteers during the pandemic). The questionnaire it was composed of 9 questions of a sociodemographic nature (gender, age, geographical area, etc) and 7 questions aimed at investigate the reasons and period of resignation. AND a descriptive statistical analysis of the variables was carried out and correlation analyzes using the software STATA16. Results. The sample was 72 young people, of which 41 (56.9%) women. 50% (n=36) of participants had not never contracted COVID-19 and almost all (n=69, 95.8%) had received the third dose of vaccination anti-COVID-19. Forty-two subjects had found a new job after resignation (58.3%). The main cause of resignation was job dissatisfaction (n=28, 38.9%); while the future perspective that has more influenced the decision to resign that of seeking more favorable economic conditions (n=20, 27.8%), followed by the search for a better balance between private and working life (n=18, 25.0%). Many gods participants (n=21, 29.2%), although intending to resign, had not yet resigned, while the participants already discharged were mainly concentrated in the periods of July-December 2020 (n=13, 18.1%) and January-June 2021 (n=12, 16.7%). For 62.5% of participants (n=45) resigning was the best decision. It was highlighted a statistically significant correlation between the qualification and having been vaccinated for COVID-19 (p<0.05), and between having been vaccinated and the cause for which you got it he decided to resign (p<0.05). The correlation between being resigned and think that resigning was the decision better was significant (p<0.05). Conclusion. The phenomenon of resignation among young people workers in Italy counts among its main causes job dissatisfaction, and the prospects that the more they push young people to resign they are looking for more favorable economic conditions, accompanied by a greater balance between private and work life.
