Abstract
The main benefits of Digital Transformation are generally related to the faster design processes founded on IOT, augmented reality and 3D printers. The new technologies allow maintenance improvements in production by the sharing of data that can prevent machinery lockdown and enhance outputs. The new machine learning devices allow the monitoring of the quality of products, the indication of any defects, operating from a predictive maintenance perspective. In this context, digitization involves a radical reconfiguration of the design and production of different industrial objects, considering the potentialities of IOT.
On the basis of previous consideration the paper investigates the digital transformation journey of an Italian SME that nowadays is considered as a supplier of innovative solutions related to the potentialities of Digital Transformation. The paper is structured as follow: after the literature review and the methodology, the case and the findings are described. The last section of the paper is dedicated to the conclusions.
