Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Previous studies have highlighted how individuals with autism and Asperger syndrome show difficulties in identifying the causal antecedent of emotional correlates. However, this deficit appears to be modulated by the type of emotion conveyed and by the salience of the emotional context. The present study aims to investigate how subjects with autism and Asperger's syndrome, compared with control subjects, represent the eliciting context (internal, external or interpersonal) for emotional events related to 6 main emotions (joy, anger, fear, sadness , surprise, disgust). Secondly, the different ways of presenting stimuli with emotional content, with reference to image (script) or video, have been modulated. Following the application of ANOVA to repeated measures, we could observe how the 3 groups of participants differ in identifying the causal antecedents of the stimuli presented with reference to all emotions, excluding rabies. Secondly, the recognition of disgust and joy seems to be particularly influenced by the mode of presentation. The results were discussed in light of the meaning of individual emotions within the emotional domain
