Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In a year of austerity like 2011, Italian exports in value returned against all expectations to practically the same record levels of 2008. Those who thought that the 2009 crisis had finally put us on our knees therefore we were wrong. So much so that the International Trade Center of UNCTAD / WTO has just reiterated that even in 2010 Italy was confirmed second only to Germany for competitiveness in world trade by number of first and second places out of a total of 14 macrosectors analyzed. We remain absolute first in textiles, clothing and leather products; we are second only to Germany in non-electronic mechanics, in basic artifacts (which include metals and metal products, ceramic tiles, glass) and in various artifacts (which include eyewear, goldsmithing, etc.); we are also sixth in processed foods.
