Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The technical dictionary has a very long tradition, during which the interest to popularize the technical and scientific knowledge has favored the specialized communication. The article analyzes the reasons why the repertory of technical words - in the form of dictionary, glossary or lexicon - was in the nineteenth century an instrument of first rank for the practice of professions and for their teaching.
