Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The present work of a longitudinal nature tests a model of the volunteering process on young adult volunteers and peers who have stopped serving, with the aim of understanding the reasons for such choices. The 225 research subjects (158 volunteers - 82 females and 76 males - and 67 former volunteers - 52 females and 15 males) completed a self-report questionnaire aimed at investigating the motivations for volunteering, satisfaction and integration with the organization , the emerging effects due to the activity carried out, the social support, the identity and the intention to maintain the commitment undertaken with the voluntary organization. Two administrations were performed (T1 and T2 one year later). The results highlight how both the dispositional variables and the organizational variables are decisive in maintaining the commitment to volunteering by young adults, both at T1 and at T2. The centrality of the variable role identity in this process was also highlighted. The research also verified the existence of a specific operating path for the volunteers who interrupted their activity. Some operational effects are proposed with respect to the data produced.
