Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Barbara Jacobs' novel The Dead Leaves gives voice to a silenced story, that of Emile Jacobs, an American man of Lebanese origin who voluntarily joined the ranks of the International Brigades to fight in the Spanish Civil War in 1937. The objective of This work is to recover, thanks to the daughter's writing, the memory of the experience of an ex-combatant who, from his real condition of failure and loser, becomes a hero within the literary work.
