Abstract

This essay deals with two letters written by the courtesan Battista Stabellino (aka Demogorgon or Apollo) to Isabella d'Este, marchioness of Mantua, which show a remarkable stylistic complexity and use very skillfully various registers of language. Therefore different lexical areas are involved and some words undergo a specific analysis.
