Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] "Scuola Italiana Moderna", flagship magazine of the La Scuola di Brescia publishing house, played a leading role in accompanying the Italian teachers to take on the new challenges posed to the Italian school system at the start of the democratic season, between the immediate postwar period and the early sixties. The contribution outlines the reform project for the people's school elaborated by the periodical and, subsequently, analyzes the reasons that supported it and the context - also influenced by the image of an elementary teacher conveyed by the cinema of the time - in which it took shape. . Finally, the magazine's commitment is documented in leading teachers to renew their teaching work in light of the new civic-educational tasks of elementary school.
