Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The eighteenth century marks the entry of theatrical dance into the Parnassus of the imitating arts. This recognition is made possible thanks to a mirroring mechanism and, at the same time, differentiation of the profile of Terpsichore compared to that of the other Muses. However, alongside a similar approximation movement by dance with respect to the more consolidated disciplines, there is also an inverse dynamic. In the reform process that crosses all fields of knowledge and in particular aesthetic thinking, the art of dance becomes a privileged model of rethinking and confrontation. The aim of this contribution is to focus on this game of mirrors through its specific emergency location: the comparison between pantomime dance and dramatic poetry established by Jean Georges Noverre and Denis Diderot in their respective works.
