[Autom. eng. transl.] The article explores the crucial role of social workers in adoption processes, from the beginning of the adoption process to post-adoptive monitoring. The social worker plays a fundamental role in two main phases: the couple study and the post-adoptive monitoring. During the couple study, social workers evaluate the parenting skills of couples through interviews and home visits, addressing issues such as personal history, motivation to adopt and management of daily life. In the post-adoptive monitoring, social workers collaborate with psychologists to evaluate the child's well-being and parenting skills, supporting families in dealing with the challenges of adoption. The article highlights the importance of building helping relationships based on trust and reciprocity, and of collaborating with family associations and authorized bodies to promote adoptive success. Reflective practice and the adoption of counseling techniques are essential to promote effective communication and adequate support for adoptive families.
