Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The hermit of Fonte Avellana Pier Damiani in the role of cardinal bishop plays a crucial role in the balance of the Roman Church in the attempt at reform between the years 1050-1060. The missions to Cluny and Milan are two decisive stages of this process.
