Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The vast and complex worlds of Asia, ranging from the Near East to Japan, are now again of interest to European and Italian audiences (too often the victim of a disclosure conditioned by the debate on the so-called 'post-colonial discourse'), on the one hand thanks to the undoubtedly economic success achieved by some emerging Asian powers in recent years, and on the other for fear of the alleged clash of civilizations between the West and the East. This collective volume, the result of the work of well-known Italian scholars, aims to illustrate the main socio-political processes and cultural dynamics that have characterized and characterize the Asian continent, such as, for example, the persistence of the colonial era , economic growth, democratization, the spread of culture, internal and external conflicts, international relations and political authoritarianism. This is intended to provide readers, without claiming to be exhaustive, with an opportunity to approach less-known realities and cultures, with which today, directly or indirectly, everyone must confront.
