Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Between the 1st and 6th centuries, Adulis formed the main port city of the kingdom of Aksum, one of the most important emporiums along the Red Sea. An Italo-Eritrean archaeological mission, and in particular the unity of the Catholic University, has recently brought to light two important early Christian places of worship in the ancient city (the most southerly currently known for the time), returning very significant information in about the spread of Christianity between the fourth and sixth centuries along the Red Sea. A perspective - that of the study of the regions in question - in general the prerogative of Orientalism.
