Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essays included in the volume Dai Conservatori al Collegio constitute a small challenge: trying to update the state of studies on Neapolitan Conservatories through a study of the documents kept in the Historical Archive of the "San Pietro a Majella" Conservatory, witnesses of the vicissitudes of the three institutes (Santa Maria di Loreto, Sant'Onofrio a Capuana, Santa Maria della Pietà de' Turchini) merged - at different times and following different political and institutional needs - into a single College following the decree of Giuseppe Bonaparte of 30 June 1807 The documents return aspects of a multiform and multifaceted activity in which we find not only teachers, pupils and students (both boarders and in piazza franca), but also prefects and prefects, archivists of musical papers, publishers and copyists, porters, custodians , attendants, cooks, harpsichord makers and organ builders, sellers of musical instruments, carpenters, porters, engineers and architects, doctors and surgeons, govern actors, rectors. 'Public' and 'private' events intertwine observed from various perspectives, from the normative institutional officiality of decrees, regulations and 'deliberations' to the intimacy and 'small events' of daily life.
