Abstract

This essay intends to reconstruct the debate around Gioventù Studentesca, an organization that has developed within the Italian Catholic Action during the 1950s, and the movement of Communion and Liberation, from the 1960s to the present. The perspectives considered are those of historians and sociologists who have compared this experiences during the last fifty years. The essay shows an increase in historiographical production in the last ten years due to the retrieval of new archival sources. The most recent studies help to overcome stereotypes and partial reading spread over the previous decades, opening new research tracks.
