Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The study follows the critical phases of the Empire and the Kingdom of Naples after the death of Frederick II, especially in relation to the papacy, which intended to eliminate the presence of the Swabians in Italy. The heirs of Frederick II experienced complex and difficult moments, worsened by the sudden death of Conrad IV of Swabia and the short reign of Manfred, who died in Benevento, during the clash with Charles of Anjou. Corradino's fate was sealed and in Tagliacozzo he was defeated during a battle that he thought he had already won.
