Abstract
The education and the attention of Giovanni Battista Montini, Pope Paul VI, towards Western monasticism are presented, with particular regard to the reform provisions of the Second Vatican Council. His presence in the Chiari monastery and his interest in bringing the Olivetan monks back to the Rodengo abbey is also investigated.
