Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] With the end of the nineties the massive diffusion of the mobile phone among the youngest represented a new phenomenon both for its social implications and for the redefinition of the communicative practices. The volume reconstructs - through the results of a non-standard research - how teenagers have been protagonists of an innovative appropriation of mobile telephony, transforming it into a personal technology and linked to an expressive and playful use. This retrospective view also represents the prerequisite for understanding the most recent process of social modeling of new terminals equipped with a camera and enabled for the exchange of visual messages. In fact, as another survey highlights, young people interpret the mobile phone in its new guise as a tool for sharing experience and a medium capable of multiplying the connections between physical and social spaces.
