[Autom. eng. transl.] The article reconstructs the fundamental stages of the critical fortune of Benjamin Crémieux, who was known and active cultural mediator of Italian literature in France from the years of his Florentine training in the climate of the "Voice" until his death in the concentration camp in 1944 The Europeanist positions of the critic, attentive to Italian literary innovations, often nonconformist, always original in the choice of the authors to be translated, were the subject of controversy and appreciation from the major intellectuals of the twenty years, including Italo Svevo and Eugenio Montale. The essay reconstructs the positions and controversies related to this well-known figure, whose importance is not limited to the Swabian case but proves to be much wider and more pervasive than the Italian literary milieu between the two wars.
