[Autom. eng. transl.] In 386 Ambrogio recovered the remains of the martyrs Gervasio and Protasio who moved to the nearby basilica built to house his remains. In this way it also redefines the symbolic physiognomy of the cemetery ad martyres, on which already previously seem to have invested Milanese bishops and prestigious lay patrons, uniting the different buildings of the sacred area in a path sanctified by the stages touched during the translation. Ambrosian and monumental and archaeological testimony the contribution reconstructs the physiognomy of the cemetery and the different stages of its development.
