Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The chapter deals with the analysis of the costs associated with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases sustained by Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae) in the group of subjects aged ≥50 years, through a review of the international and national scientific literature and an estimate of direct costs Healthcare according to the National Health Service (SSN) perspective. In particular, an analysis of the costs related to visits to general practitioners (GPs), diagnosis, pharmacological treatments and hospitalizations was conducted.
