[Autom. eng. transl.] Food is a universal and unavoidable aspect of human existence, a key to access to otherness, a virtuous intertwining of traditions, identities, cultures, rituality and sociality, a vehicle for encounters, reality and emotion, a source of being and well-being, with profound educational values . The relationship between man and food, while responding to a primary need, is a source of reflection and of value choice, a sign of a relationship with oneself, with others, with the planet. The pace of life today makes it increasingly difficult to follow good eating habits, moving away from the path of quality and well-being. Nutrition is conditioned by false myths, misleading advertising, fads and bad habits are spreading more and more often at the table, waste is spreading, both in family and school contexts. Eating together, a typical character, although not exclusive to the human species, transforms the nutritional gesture of nutrition into an eminently cultural one and loads the moments of meals with an emblematic communicative value. Around the table you eat, talk, compare, put together experiences, ideas, emotions and differences, humanity is revealed, the search for the meaning of eating in the pleasure of being together and communicating between symbols, values and identity. Proper nutrition education is essential for the future of the younger generation, it requires co-responsibility and an educational alliance between parents and teachers, in enhancing the aspects of conviviality, respect for biodiversity and the rhythms of nature, the peculiarities of a territory, taking shape as a perspective key to training planning aimed at developing behaviors oriented to the sustainability of life.
