Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Over the last few years there has been an increase in interest in the study and evaluation of parenting educational styles, as they are strongly linked to the adaptation and psychological well-being of the child and adolescent. One of the tools most used to detect this construct is the Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ; Robinson et al., 1995), a useful tool to assess both the relationship with the father and the mother, adaptable to different age groups. This tool has been applied in several countries, Anglo-Saxons and not, and used in cross-cultural studies. However, despite the widespread use of the PSDQ, few researches have studied the psychometric characteristics and cross-cultural invariance, aspects necessary to be able to carry out valid cross-cultural studies. This paper will present the scope of application of the tool, an adaptation to the Italian context of the retrospective version of this instrument and a study of the cross-cultural invariance of the psychometric characteristics of this version.
