Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The present study wants to offer a contribution to the validation of the Italian version of the New Aesthetic Test proposed by Lindauer in 1985 adapted by Dogana et al. (1999; 2002). The construct that measures is that of aesthetic sensitivity, that is the personality trait with its cognitive, experiential and behavioral declinations that leads aesthetically sensitive people to show a profound interest in beauty in its various forms and a vivid imaginative life. The questionnaire adapted by Dogana et al. (1999; 2002) in the 25-item version had been tested on a small number of adolescents (16-20 years). Administering it to a sample of 1046 subjects, aged 15 to 50 years equally distributed by gender, it was possible to test the factorial structure through a confirmatory factor analysis. The instrument has proved to be valid and reliable, it has also made it possible to assess gender differences (aesthetic sensitivity is confirmed by a greater female privilege) and age (this personological dimension tends to be accentuated with maturity).
