Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Only a few years ago it would have been unthinkable, at least within Western contexts, to deal with a theme such as that of educational poverty, destined as it seemed to be consigned to a distant past and no longer able to recur. Currently, on the contrary, the set of material and immaterial deprivations that characterize the educational pathways of children and adolescents represent a widespread phenomenon in social contexts, capable of affecting the future development of the entire society.
Focusing on the theme of educational poverty, from a sociological point of view, implies, on the one hand, clarifying what is meant in our society and in our culture with the concept of "poverty" and, on the other, what is meant by the concept of " education ”, such as the purposes that, through specific reflexivity and precise educational practices, a particular society wants to pursue and, through them, what kind of poverty it wants to fight.
