Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The idea of sustainability includes behaviors and lifestyles, and the sustainability transition pursued by the European Commission's Green Deal cannot be successful without a coherent transition of consumer behavior and choices. The side of behaviors, individual and collective, in the socio-technical sustainability transition is however much more elusive compared to technological and business trajectories since it is rooted in cultures and values, and is, in this phase, often contradictory and uncertain , like a transformation lever that can be very weak or very strong. The understanding of trends and scenarios in consumer behavior therefore takes on a critical role for the Italia 2030 strategies. The essay elaborates the main results of the position paper developed for the Italia 2030 project. At the end, some policy hypotheses are proposed to address involvement of consumers in the sustainability transition.
