Abstract

This contribution inquiries the linguistic markers of the relation between interlocutors and of its modifications. After reviewing the main theoretical accounts of this topic in literature (Kerbrat's notion of "relationème"; Grieve's Dictionary of French Connectors; Geneva's School contributions,...), French "connectors" (en effet, et, donc, certes, autrement dit, selon lui, d'ailleurs...) are analysed insofar they highlight the relation between the interlocutors and insofar they modify it, i.e. they oblige interlocutors to specific inferences/accommodations concerning reciprocal attitudes. The corpus analysed is a press article published in 1950 by Le Monde, after Schuman's Declaration about a new economic partnership involving France and Germany (CECA).
