Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Some important points are highlighted that receive new light from the studies collected in the volume. The Church in Bobbia in its symbiotic affair with the monastery of S. Colombano is a case in many respects exemplary of dioceses without a city and without a defined diocesan territory. Its origin, linked to designs of control and reorganization of the territory by Emperor Henry III, largely conditioned subsequent developments. With the subjugation of the abbey to the diocese in 1208, the "autonomous" phase of the Bobbio diocese ended, becoming more and more oriented towards the nearby Piacenza.
