Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Introduction. Competitiveness and cohesion can be traced back to the need to assert itself in the group as an individual, distinct from the others, and the need to be part of a unit, and from previous studies, have been correlated with sports performance. In team sports and individual sports there is a tendency to give more weight to one or the other variable, while in sports where teammates are rivals in individual competitions, both play a central role. Purpose. The study aims to investigate the levels of competitiveness, cohesion and conflict in seven teams (n 54) with multiple equipment, to identify differences in scores with respect to structural variables and to detect any correlations between the variables of interest. Method. The tools used are: SOQ to investigate competitiveness; GEQ for cohesion; ROCKS I and II for the conflict; perceived performance scale to investigate the perception of one's own performance on a Likert scale; moreover, the scores obtained by the teams in the competition following the administration were detected. Results. From the results it emerges that adult athletes, those who have been in the team for the longest time and athletes who perform both individual and group competitions have reported significantly different levels compared to their companions in some of the variables investigated. A negative correlation also emerged between perceived performance and conflict. Conclusions. Since sports with multiple equipment have particular characteristics, particular attention must be given, on the part of those who make up the group, of those who follow it and those who train it, to the dynamics of the group itself which can influence not only team performance, but also on individual ones.
