Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The chapter investigates the empric and heuristic validity of the concept of digital natives, re-reading it in the light of the opportunities and risks of the network for the youngest through the EU Kids Online data. This chapter will present the data relating to the digital skills of Italian children; to the role of socio-demographic variables, the quality of access and the use of the Internet in positioning young people along a continuum of digital inclusion; and the strategic function of these user skills as online risk mediation resources.
