Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The Compendium of the Mental Prayer extracted from the works of Saint Teresa appeared in Verona in 1749. The text originally written in Spanish was published in Rome in 1610 when the work for the beatification of the Saint was in full fervor and it was so favorably in a few years several editions immediately appeared. Thomas of Jesus writes that prayer is divided into two kinds the acquired prayer and the infused prayer. He presents all the degrees of prayer up to the culmination of spiritual asceticism, the mystical marriage.
