'Come il mare in un bicchiere' di Chiara Gamberale e la narrazione del primo confinamento

In the first half of 2020, the update on the pandemic offered by television news, newspapers and social media represented a shared practice, with which literary writing also measured itself extensively. The gap between the news offered by the media and the experience of confinement has prompted many writers to elaborate a first response to the emergency, which in many cases has given rise to stories that are different and parallel to the media one. After a brief examination of some narrative texts written in spring 2020 and their close relationship with the media, the case of Like the Sea in a Glass by Chiara Gamberale (Feltrinelli, 2020) was examined. The author did not intend to write a simple diary of the days of the lockdown, but rather to reflect on “a protocol of psychological and emotional self-defense” in view of the return to normality. \ r\ n The essay focuses in particular on the alternation between private testimony and quotes from news and newspapers, on the origin and the criterion for choosing the sources mentioned and on their structural function within the quarantine “notebook”.
