Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Since the beginning of the crisis due to COVID-19, and always more as the months go by, the masks are become metonymics of the pandemic itself: the leaves for the whole. The reasons for the phenomenon are manifold. Initially, the ambiguous scientific statements related their "ineffectiveness" in protecting healthy people from the infection they have made it a paradigm of lack transparency and trust towards citizens on the part of the authorities, when the problem was scarcity in the first place of personal protective equipment (PPE). Later, their use and their debated obligatory nature in places closed and / or open have become tout court the banner of concepts different from liberal democratic societies, from the government the pandemic and citizens' rights.
