Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Clinical Governance (CG) is an approach aimed at improving quality in healthcare in the delays of patient-centeredness. The aim of this study was to analyze the results of the evaluation of the CG in the Policlinico Gemelli to identify strategic levers aimed at improving the assistance provided, assessing the degree of "humanization". Materials and methods: The CG in the Gemelli General Hospital was evaluated in 2012 with the OPTIGOV methodology. In order to identify the variables generating latent factors capable of influencing hospital governance, multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) was applied. Results: The application of OPTIGOV highlighted a good level of implementation of the CG. The MCA through the aggregation of the variables has defined 3 latent factors: F1 = 48.09%; F2 = 24.95%; F3 = 9.64%, which explains 82.68% of the total variance. In relation to their heuristic interpretation, the following have been defined: F1: "ASSESSMENT FOR PERSONAL-ORIENTED IMPROVEMENT STRATEGIES" à with a focus on healthcare professionals and patients, to identify strategies for continuous improvement by producing evidence and feedback on performance. F2: "EVALUATION FOR A PERSON PERFORMING MANAGEMENT" à with a focus on healthcare and patients, to improve the quality of care through worker empowerment, through the evaluation of performance aimed at programming. F3: "TRACEABILITY FOR A PUNCTUAL ACCOUNTABILITY OF PROFESSIONALS" à with a focus on quality of care, to improve communication and cooperation between healthcare professionals, the doctor-patient relationship, the safety of operators and patients. Conclusions The heuristic interpretation of the results leads back to the concept of humanizing health care. From the study it emerges how within the Policlinico A. Gemelli the humanization of care continues to be the driver of the improvement of the quality of care.
