Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The text edited by colleagues Zacchetti and Castelnuovo represents in the Italian panorama an updated contribution on the important clinical theme of psychosomatics. After a necessary diagnostic parenthesis, updated to DSM 5, written by one of the leading psychosomatic experts (Porcelli), the book focuses on the main psychotherapy techniques (Porcelli) and in particular on hypnotic techniques (Zacchetti). Much space is then given to the symbolic meaning of psychosomatic diseases (Zacchetti and Merati) and to the collaboration between medicine, above all basic, and psychology, in a context historically on the border between the two disciplines (Zacchetti and Rossini). The last section is dedicated to some more specific concrete experiences. There is indeed space for food addiction (Ceccarini), a construct increasingly in vogue in the field of obesity, and for two concrete examples of the application of very different therapeutic approaches, such as the psychodynamic (Oasis) and strategic (Nardone). This text therefore represents a valid instrument of knowledge for students, psychologists and doctors interested in deepening that fascinating world, on the border between body and mind, which is psychosomatic.
