Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The text presents two therapeutic approaches to disorders and problems of couples, each of which has its own matrices of thought, intervention techniques and measures of effectiveness that are carefully defined. This is the result of an important international exchange of clinical research that has lasted for years. The first part, coordinated by Douglas K. Snyder, focuses on specific disorders treated according to the integrative approach (cognitive-behavioral and insight-oriented). Important North American clinicians have contributed to this approach. The second part, coordinated by Vittorio Cigoli, Davide Margola and Marialuisa Gennari, focuses on the problems inherent to couple ties according to the relational-symbolic approach that has guided the clinical and research intervention of the authors for years. Different roads can lead to the same goal, that of psychic care; however, therapists also encounter common obstacles in their path. Thus, what characterizes the text, the only one of its kind, is the ideal tension towards a dialogue between clinical approaches based on the mutual appreciation of difference.
