Cittadinanza onlife e odio 2.0: Media Literacy con gruppi eletti a bersaglio nel web sociale

[Autom. eng. transl.] In recent years, socio-cultural, educational and political reflection has often focused on hate speech and flame wars, the blazes with which, especially on the social web, elected groups or individuals are targeted a target because it is a symbol of a certain position, behavior, or fragility. The text focuses on the activation and participation of young people and groups potentially targeted in forms of counter-narration and alternative narration to hate speech. These actions can be interpreted within the framework of Onlife Citizenship, i.e. the rethinking of digital in one perspective pedagogy around education, critical spirit and responsibility and with the awareness of the continuous connection between online and offline within the current information ecosystem. In this chapter, three digital activism education projects of the Research Center on Intercultural Relations will be analyzed according to a theory of change through Media Literacy applied to the current information ecosystem. This is the "Action research on online hate speech of an anti-religious nature" (2019-2020) carried out with Young Muslims of Italy on behalf of the National Anti-Racial Discrimination Office, of the action with minority groups (Jews, Muslims, Roma and Sinti) within the European project "REASON – REAct in the Struggle against ONline hate speech” (2021- 2023) and, finally, of the project “Digit.ALL – Young Digital Advocates as actors of change: for a culture against hate speech towards women online and offline" (2019-2020), carried out in four high schools in Milan and Turin and financed by the Equal Opportunities Department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
