Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Food brings us back every day to the fundamental challenges of existence: ourselves and others, need and freedom, eating and working, healthy and sick, consumption and excess, just and unjust. Hunger thinks, speaks, teaches the humility of depending, of living thanks to the environment and to others; solidarity and compassion for those in hunger, the injustice of referring everything to oneself, consuming everything that is. Franco Riva returns to the theme of ethical food, and he does so first by dismantling icons and clichés of food that are too obvious and not at all innocent, then by addressing the intertwining between food, work and justice, which lays the foundations of solidarity with others and with the world, a true test of democracy.
