Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay traces the history of the relationship between the Church, economy and society in Italy in the second half of the nineteenth century up to the first world war. The scientific literature available on the subject is particularly valued. A singular role is recognized in the work of the national Catholic movement of a lay nature.
