Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] For Tillich, writing "Kirche und Kultur" is anything but an exercise in delimiting opposite or contiguous fields. There is much more at stake: the overcoming of the dualism between the sacred and the profane which seems to block any possibility of dialogue and integration. All the more fascinating is the path chosen by the author, who, without denying the existence of the sacred and the profane, traces a path of (re) foundation of a philosophy of culture adequate to the theological climate of the twentieth century. The objectification of what is paradoxical by nature but which as a paradox, in fact, cannot be tackled in technically philosophical terms: this is the risk that according to Tillich must be taken so that "everywhere the unconditionality of the divine breaks through".
